Exploring Wondercon with Got Vape
WonderCon originally started in 1987 in Oakland, California as “The Wonderful World of Comics Convention.” The brainchild of Bay Area comics retailer, John Barrett, the convention was designed to bring together comic book lovers from all around. The original show included all the classic comic books and featured an exhibit hall with dealers selling old and new comics as well as programming, anime screenings and games. By 2001, after 15 events, then co-owners Mike Friedrich and Joe Field decided to step back and reach out to Comic-Con International in hopes that the organization could take over the event.
In 2002, Comic-Con took over the show and relocated it from Oakland to downtown San Francisco. After 15 successful years in the Bay Area, WonderCon was moved to Anaheim, California. Since 2012, WonderCon, now called Comic-Con International Presents WonderCon Anaheim, has been held at the Anaheim Convention Center, becoming a southern California staple event.
WonderCon has continued to grow embracing all aspects of SDCC including comics, movies, TV, animation, the Masquerade and more. The even has grown over the years; attracting more attendees, more exhibitors and more fun. In its current Anaheim-based residence, WonderCon continues to be a must-attend event for all the comic books lovers out there. Got Vape was glad to be about of the fun.
